The Signature Inn Berkeley appears to offer a reasonably priced, centrally located option, particularly for travelers attending events at UC Berkeley. Recent reviews highlight a consistently helpful staff member and clean rooms, though concerns persist regarding inconsistent pricing practices and potential quality issues from older reviews.
Wouldn't recommend this place, The room smelled gross and wet, and to top it all off was never told when I booked the hotel I would have to pay an 100 deposit, They said I would get the deposit back, I did get it back in a timely manner which I was happy about, checked my account today (almost a week later) and they took my deposit out of my account again and overdrew my account. Not happy at all. I know this was not our fault as we left the room neat and made sure we would get our deposit back.
This is a great little hotel for a quick stay. I spent a night here and was 5 mins away from my work location at the university. It’s a motel style hotel, so as long as you don’t expect 4/5star service, and just wanna lay your head down somewhere clean, safe and central, this is your place.
Very happy at the service by the night lady and the rooms. Was second guessing the place as it had a lot of bad reviews, which as it happened they seem to be fake. I was at a conference at UC Berkeley (5 mins away) and needed to stay an extra night, found this place close by around 10pm and they answered right away, unlike some of the other hotels close by that didn’t answer. Lady that answers I think was a mixed, she was very nice gave me a run down and said special pricing for AAA members. Called about 5-6 places some they never answered, some had like a $150 deposit on top, some were in sketch parts close by, some I didn’t even want to call. Most places were in the upwards of $200-250 per night. Decided on this place, lady helping me charged me $129 out the door, provided me a parking spot and stayed open till I got there. Once I got into the room, it did not smell like cigarettes, had a queen size clean bed and sheets, room was clean with a small fridge and lamps. Bathrooms were also stocked nicely with clean towels and warm water. Overall I decided to take a video and also review this as the lady in the front was very nice and sweet and some of these ratings are not truthful.
I had had a problem with another booking so I called here at like 12:30am asking if they had any last minute availability. The clerk that answered offered to stay open to wait for us. We arrived and she was kind and very helpful. Room was clean as well. Parking was a little packed but clerk was very helpful in figuring out parking issue. Breakfast was a little lacking but overall a good stay. The wonderful clerk really did make the experience better too.
A reasonably affordable spot with the best night time staff member. She makes you feel like she really cares and goes waaay out of her way to accommodate anything you may need no matter what the time. Treats everyone with the same respect no matter what. Great attitude! She really makes the whole experience a thousand times better.
This hotel was so bad I had to find another place to stay that night. The sheets were stained and had cigarette burns, the A/C unit was broken, and the bathroom did not look clean. Also the room reeked of stale cigarette smoke even though it claimed to be a non smoking room. A huge waste of money and I can't believe other people have given it a decent rating. I felt completely fooled by other reviews and am upset I spent $120 and didn't even stay. Also, for reference, I am very accustomed to staying at cheaper hotels and hostels, so I'm not a person with unrealistic expectations.
This is a pretty average hotel for the price. All the rooms have doors that face the outside, which can be unnerving if you're on the first (ground) floor as I was. The bed was very comfortable and I appreciated the wide array of TV channels. The bathroom was huge but had a tiny sink with not enough room for toiletries. The free breakfast was okay - I stuck with prepackaged yogurt and cereal and coffee. They also had egg rounds and sausage and some breads.
