The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Berkeley receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its convenient location, free amenities, and friendly staff, while others report issues with internet connectivity, rude customer service, and cleanliness concerns. Recent reviews highlight inconsistent experiences with staff interactions and room quality.
If you want bad to no internet, no TV, and hair in your food this is the place to book. TV turns on, but none of the channels work. Whats even worse the internet is so spotty you can't even use it. The kicker, you'll find surpises in your food. Found a hair in mine smh.
Exactly what I needed. Great location for my activities in the Berkeley/Oakland/Richmond area. Clean, quiet, updated room; clean bathroom; mini frig. New or updated hotel. Hot breakfast included with great variety. Good price. Accommodated a very early check in. Everything you expect at a Holiday Inn but hard to find elsewhere.
I came to the Holiday Inn because I had booked a room at another place sight unseen that was really low quality. Since I had stayed at Holiday Inns before I assumed that I would be able to have a much better time while I received some very stress full Medical Treatments. But I had a terrible experience the rooms were great they were clean nice everything else. The front desk staff though except for the lady at night she was great was so rude to me. Yana who works during the daytime was very unhelpful treated me like I was a bother that's all I'm going to go into it I don't even need to say anymore just not happy with the experience at all I will never go back there again the management everything except for housekeeping was great and the girl at night
I stayed here with a work colleague who booked. hotel location to cleanliness was perfect also very quiet. But the guy working at the reception in the night was rude as hell. I had some projects due and we we were brain storming some idea and a friend decided to come and drop some folder off but this front desk dude on Friday night was so rude he turned away my work colleague. He told him he was going to call cops on him etc. he was not staying there but he was dropping some papers off. This guy had some serious angry face. Very rude. Same thing I was in town so my cousin could not meet me either turned away has night time doors were locked at 6pm. Your Front desk staff is not basically fit for customer service does not even have a smile on the face to greet customers/guests.
Our second week-long stay here and it won't be our last. FREE parking (other places charge up to 60 bucks a night to park), FREE breakfast (eggs, yogurt, pastries, etc.), good location, large newly remodeled room with fridge, microwave, great water pressure in shower, daily housekeeping, fresh baked cookies each night, and a small fitness gym on property. Truly everything you need. Best part of the stay is the exceptional staff. From Luis the manager, to the friendly housekeeping staff and Yana at the front desk, we were treated like family each day. This place is not the fanciest choice in town, but if you want excellent hospitality and an unbeatable value, this is it.
I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Berkeley on two different occasions and both times I was treated poorly by Yana at the front desk. The first time when I checked out, Yana wanted to charge me for leaving my car there for a few hours. I was told at checkin that I would be able to without charge for a few hours, and she said no. Her attitude was really unhelpful and rude and she said if you really need to leave it, then just pay. I had even mentioned my status as a Plantinum Elite member and she shrugged it off. I asked to speak to a manager , and she said that he wasn’t there. Eventually she spoke to a manager & after a very unpleasantly long wait, I could leave my car. She mentioned something about a Cal game and I’m not sure if she said that’s why they were charging. If that’s the case, Holiday Inn Express should be loyal to their IHG members and should not be trying to make an extra buck due to a game (not sure if they were renting the spots out as well! Her explanation was vague). Every IHG and Intercontinental I’ve stayed at lets you keep your car in courtesy parking, just like they hold your luggage after checkout, at least for a few hours, the same day. The second time I was there I was trying to check in and she was in the dining area. No one else was manning the front desk. She very loudly said “do you need something?” from across the hallway. Obviously I needed something! Otherwise why would I be standing there? She should have asked politely “how can I help you?”. She came over and very abruptly checked me in - no welcome back, no thanks for being an Elite platinum member , nothing. Later that evening, I asked her for some toiletries and thanked her by saying “Thank You” and her response was a curt “That’s Fine”. She could at a minimum said “you’re welcome”. I am aghast at the treatment I received and the general lack of courtesy, politeness and kindness. No customer, irrespective of IHG status should be treated this way. Do better Holiday Inn Express: train your employees.
Location is iffy period but there is a security guard at riding around. I had to change my rooms three times because of the ac. But i'm due for another visit that way , and i'm using the saying hotel. My complaints are not that big that I won't go back.
We stayed here for a while and worked from home most of the time. We were initially worried the place would be loud near the street, but this was a super quiet place - much quieter than we expected (or typically get from hotels). All the staff were lovely and very accommodating, and Kirill was especially nice and went above and beyond for us.
Update: 0 ??. Let us agree to disagree. It’s no never mind anyway. I won’t be staying at any California hotel, motel, airbnb, etc. bye bye. Please do not reply to me again. It would be pointless and harassing at this point. Thank you so much. Just got told service animals are not allowed. Have a great day
Stayed awhile, nearly 0 complaints, staff was fast to respond to needs and requests. Cleaning service sometimes didn't change the sheets or comforter. Fitness center was quite small, could only fit 3 cardio users and 1 person doing something else. Would stay again!
