We had a great stay at the Graduate by Hilton in Berkeley. We appreciate how this historic hotel was renovated. It feels both old (in a good way) and new, and is very welcoming. The location is perfect for those visiting UC Berkeley and surroundings. The staff is efficient and friendly. We had a very nice and healthy breakfast at Henry’s (check out the yogurt and overnight oats). The two parking lots were a nice plus: easy to get in and out when you need to use the car.

I just stayed at this historic Graduate by Hilton Berkeley a college-themed hotel located one block from the UC Berkeley campus and close to downtown Berkeley. The ambience of the hotel is so fun! The rooms are very clean and their beds are unbelievably super comfy?? Here is a call out to the front desk staff for their warm hospitality and helpful suggestions for local eating…Eric, Yana, Bella and Shalom . Dining was great. Collin is the chef and his culinary experience was very much enjoyed. My room was immaculate… unfortunately I can’t praise my housekeeper because she slipped in to clean my room at different times of my stay and I never had the opportunity to thank her. The GM knew the lay of the land and gave great recommendations for things to do. He took the time to show us local places to hike…which had spectacular views as well as going to Muir Woods. LOCATION - 5 Stars - Great, especially if visiting UC Berkeley; next to restaurants and shops and steps away from the University STAFF - 2 Stars - There were only 2 or 3 young girls at the front desk that we met during our 3 day stay. All of them looked unhappy at their job and seemed a better fit at a Thrift Store. CLEANLINESS - 3 Stars - much to be desired, specifically in the bathroom. Let's just say I was not about to use the bathtub. Throughout the room and bathroom, it looked like a deep clean was much needed. RESTAURANT - 4 Stars - Nothing spectacular, my salad was not fresh, but prices were reasonable and the service was fast. OTHER - 3 Stars - There was a very strong smell in the lobby, which I could not say what it was - candle or something else. While the decor in the lobby was interesting and inviting, it seemed that students and random people could just come in, buy a coffee and sit there using their computers. The room was a good size (we had the corner Campenile view) however, it did not feel clean, there was no pen, not even a single piece of paper to write a note. The Front Desk lobby area did not have any interesting materials on the area, what to do or see and I was not about to ask the front desk ladies, they did not inspire much confidence. There was no concierge either. Overall good location, but not even a 4 Star hotel.

My room was decent size. Location in walking distance to lots of restaurants catering to college students. The bathroom was bad shape and in need of repair. Water was trickling in the shower. No counter space and bad lighting. Henry’s restaurant had good food. Hotel had no other amenities such as room service, market or order ahead from restaurant. Would not stay here again.

Very close to Cal campus. Older hotel. Henry's tavern attached really cozy with good food, drinks and service. Been many times, but this was the best meals. The cafe which had been inside is now in Henry's. That was a great change with great food and more options. Yay!

Staff is welcoming. I really enjoyed the room - its comfort and decor. On-site restaurant is good, depending upon what you order. I really enjoyed the burger. Parking can be a little difficult, but I was able to park on the street for free both nights. I’ll be staying here again!

I love the unique feel of this hotel. It has quirks. It is over 100 years old. You are having a good time with the local people and the location. Hopefully you dont care about spending a lot of time at the hotel other than sleeping and a dining experience. Which the dining here is mediocre. My Ceasar salad was more like a sand salad. One of the line cooks came out of the kitchen and mean mugged me, so i ate the sand salad. Other than the kitchen crew and the overworked very soft spoken waitress, the crew and customer service was phenomenal. They let us check in early which was great we had driven from Washington state and were ready for a break. The room was good, we had a lovely view. The bathroom was clean. Overall my husband and I loved the vibe of our stay. For the experience of it and the atmosphere A+!! Go out and explore the local places and enjoy all that Berkley has to offer.

Stayed a coulpe of days after New Year's day. The lobby is warm and inviting. The workers were really helpful. The rooms don't have a microwave, and they were nice enough to offer to reheat our leftover burritos ? for us. Lots of table space in the reception/lobby area to relax and have some coffee ??. We were able to park on the street after 6pm, when the meters ended. It worked out, since the next day was Sunday, and parking meters weren't enforced. The upgraded room we had was nice. It had a couch, coffee table/ottoman, a lounge chair, office desk and ?, and a very comfortable king-size bed with good pillows. They also have a hot water kettle for instant coffee. The room also featured a safe box, and a refrigerator. The bathroom was older, but sufficient. It had a tub/shower combo with a curtain. The only small issue was the water pressure was lower than we would like it to be. The location was great. Nearby Telegraph street has tons of restaurants, retail shopping, and more. The Cal University was minutes away.

We've stayed at this location of the Graduate chain several times, and had a good, if not perfect experience. As always, the staff are great. Hospitable, helpful, and empathetic. In previous stays, we had challenges with tiny , noisy rooms, but the convenience of the hotel and the kindness of the staff were strong positives. Last night, it was intolerable. We paid for a large king room on the top floor, and did not sleep. The connector door between our room and the one next door was paper thin, and we could hear every tiny noise, including the rustling of a paper, the flushing of toilets, and even their quiet whispering. On top of that there was a fan or compressor on the ceiling above our room (#607) that rattled and whined all night. When we called the front desk, the receptionist apologized, and said there was nothing they could do, because the hotel was full. To be fair, the manager did refund our money for the night, and was very sympathetic. But pretty much everything about the hotel is cheap and minimal, including the walls and infrastructure. The place feels neglected and just a little bit sad. Too bad, because the location is great and the staff are trying their very best.

We had a great stay at the Graduate Berkeley. The room was comfortable, the service was excellent, and the snacks in the room were a nice surprise. We also enjoyed our workout in the gym. They were able to get us in early, which made everything easier. Eric (the manager) and the front desk staff were fantastic — friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we’d happily stay again.
